Couldn’t put it down! I loved reading about Anya and Josiah. I read about Anya in the first book of the series, ‘One Night with a Quarterback’, and hoped Jeanette would write about her. She did!! Yea! And with a sexy quarterback, Josiah. The story starts out with some conflict between Anya and Josiah but quickly turns. The growth for each character in this book is fun to watch.
Another touchdown for Jeanette Murray!
For those who are not into football, not to worry. Although the characters in this series have jobs on a football team, I found it easy to read with no technical terms I had to look up.

Romancing the Running Back Santa Fe Bobcats Book 4 edition by Jeanette Murray Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Football! Well my teams season is done and not sure what next year entails. While this is a football story, it doesn’t have a ton of actual football time in it. Sure they have games, but you aren’t there to see them. They travel, do their business and then come home. So the story stays focused on the characters in the now, outside of football.
The Bobcats have been a fictional favorite football team of mine. Every guy is a prime candidate to matchmake, but this one left me scratching my head.
Josiah has been drafted into being the best man at his friends wedding. Known as the conservationist, he rides his bike when he can and owns a hybrid. Hoping to leave the world a better place when he is gone, he has a chip on his shoulder that rubbed me the wrong way from page one. While I agreed with him for the most part, he makes snap impressions of people that left me wanting to Gibbs smack him.
Anya Fisher comes to town to help her best friend with her wedding and bam! Is already hit with disdain over the amount of shoes she has brought with her by a jock without much conversation. Being a fashion shopper for women isn’t a crime, nor does it make her an airhead, but Josiah right away labels Anya and the two get off to a very bad start.
For the first quarter to half of the story, I was thrown by just how stuck up, snotty and immature Josiah was being. Could someone remove the stick up his ass please? It only came out for Anya and I wanted to scream at him that he didn’t give her a chance, but made a snap decision over a frickin’ suitcase.
Anya was the saving grace. In the last book you got to see her doing what she loved, helping people. Starting up a non-profit to help teenagers get their prom dresses is a wonderful idea. She kept her head up and refused to back down to Josiah *fist pump* and put him in his place more than a few times.
While Josiah did change and come around some, he still had a stick up his ass for most of the book. Anya has a secret, but it is mostly something she doesn’t think to tell Josiah, than just keeping it from it. It was kind of a deal breaker with me and crossed a line I didn’t like. While she admits in her mind it was a non-issue, it really wasn’t and I had to come down on Josiah’s side for this one.
Around the ending I had some disbelief in how things go down. Right off the book didn’t feel like a normal story that I have grown to love in the series. I was looking forward to Josiah’s story and I think he came up short and so did Anya. You do get a few new secondary characters, which I looking forward to exploring.
So while it was still a good story, it lacked the coming together of two people that leaves me grasping for more of them. I was just kind of blah in the end and ready to write of these two characters as a lost cause. Not a bad book, just not up the the level I have come to expect for this series
I think I have said this before but if you are not into sports like me, you will still enjoy this series. The focus is more on the relationships of the players than it is on football game itself. Romancing the Running Back is excellent in that the player is a great guy, not a bad boy needing to be saved. I really like Josiah even though he is a bit rigid in his ideas in the beginning. Anya has more issues that make a good contrast to the wedding party events where these two meet. The development of their relationship keeps this story upbeat and interesting even when the personalities of Anya and Josiah don’t exactly jive.
Jeanette Murray has an easy to read style with witty dialogue that brings humor as well as character insight into her stories. Romancing the Running Back is a fine example of this style. It’s a good time read; perfect for sitting by the fireplace or sunning on the beach.

Romancing the Running Back is the fourth book in the Santa Fe Bobcats series. The Santa Fe Bobcats series is an adult sports romance series about a professional football team. I have not read the first three books in the series, but I thought this one was the perfect one for me to jump into the series with, because it was the wedding (planning) for the couple from the first book, Cassie and Trey. We get to see the couple from the first three stories, and it let me decide which ones I wanted to read, but the main focus was on Josiah and Anya, making it totally seamless for a new fan to the series to be able to jump right in and start with their story.
I loved how opposite, at first glance, Josiah and Anya seemed. He is an eco friendly to the extreme conservationist, and she is a purely aesthetic (at least on the surface) person. There is a lot more to Anya, but we don't learn just what that is until later in the story. Anya and Josiah butt heads with each other early on, making for one of my favorite tropes- the bickering and bantering. It was so much freakin' fun just to watch the two of them go at it. Even knowing they were going to end up together, it was fun to watch them forced together to help Cassie and Trey with their wedding. Eventually, the magic started heating up between them and they started to enjoy each others company. It was a slow transition, and it was really well done.
Bottom line Romancing the Running Back, while being the fourth book in the Santa Fe Bobcats series, it is easy for a new reader to the series to pick up with their story first. It was flirty fun, and a really great story. Whether you start with book 1 or book 4, check out this series if you love sports romances.

Excellent author
Compared to the first book, this one was terrible. The plot was predictable and the author dragged on and on to he inevitable. Big let down after the first installment in the series.
I love Murray's books. She is a auto purchase for me every time!
Have read every book I can find from this author! She never has failed my expectations. She surpasses them every time. I love the flow and feel of her writing. I can truly place myself as the character. Definitely recommend
